Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez
SARINA SAYS:
This is only my second Abby Jimenez book, and I’m so impressed. After I closed this book, I sat with the experience for a bit to figure out why it moved me so much. There are many familiar elements here—opposites attract. Uptown heroine vs. downtown boyfriend—she’s a brilliant doctor, he works with his hands. A “meet cute” involving her car off the road in the first paragraph.
Those are all appealing elements on which to build a story, but none of them are impressively original, or previously unfamiliar to me.
And yet. This book sizzles with chemistry and fabulous characters. It just has that X factor of attraction and sparkle that is so difficult to pull off. You will ache for Alexis and Daniel as they blunder toward a resolution that feels impossible so many times before the final page.
Read it for: well-drawn attraction, sparkling dialogue, small town quirkiness, a baby goat in pajamas and a whiff of magical realism to bring it all home.
